We will be offering a Customer Appreciation Rate of $50 for 2 nights of camping on May 22 and 23, 2015.  Hopefully there will be no more snow drifts and lots of sunshine. There will also be a Fall Special weekend on Sept 11 and 12.

June 13 and 14 brings the National RV Weekend in support of Make a Wish Canada. This event is promoted by GoRving Canada. We will be selling Chinese lanterns with funds going to Make a Wish Canada. The End of the Transformation

It has been a bit of a bittersweet day as we began the demolition of our old Picnic Shelter For anyone that has been following us for a while, you will remember that our Campground began as a Family Farm. If you are new to this Blog click over to the History of our Property page to learn more. We knew that the building was nearing the end of it’s life which is why we did the Gazebo addition to the Rec Building last summer. This Spring it was now time to complete the last phase of that addition and tear down the shelter.  In the years as a farm, the ‘picnic shelter’ was actually a machine shed.  That shed was the last piece of visible evidence of the Campground’s former life. It was the only thing left to remind us of where we began.  There are still a few little reminders here and there but most people would walk by and not even notice them. We will always remember where the walkway in the ‘barn’ aka Rec Building was, but it is now hidden under the new flooring.  As much as we tell ourselves that it was time to move forward and replace the shelter it still brings a little bit of sadness to drive in the lane and see the big empty space.

I’ve been keeping a big secret

I admit it, I have been holding out on our campers. I have known something very important for over a week now and haven’t told anyone. Today it became official though, so it is time to share. The hot tubs are NOW OPEN. Well actually the pools are too but at this point it is only good if you are really into Polar Bear Swims.  We will start heating the regular pool for next weekend and the splash pool will be heated towards the end of May.

Something else happened today that I have been waiting 6 months for. My ice cream mix arrived this afternoon. That means twisters for lunch on Friday and ice cream social on Saturday.

This weekend  is pick your ducky discount – pluck a duck when you register and save up to 50% off camping fees. We will be doing door prize draws on Friday and Saturday evenings. Seasonal and weekend campers can come out and enter their names to win a prize.

What does early Spring mean to Camping?

There has been a lot of excitement around Manitoba this past week. Seeing the snow almost gone on March 18 makes us feel like a kid on their way to Disneyland.
How does this affect our Campground? Well, most importantly is that we are well on our way to an early May pool opening. Second most important is that our Seasonal campers won’t have to trudge through snow when the power goes on.
Our virtual office (email and phone) is always open. Our physical office and RDR Grill & Concession will be open regular hours starting mid April Check the website and facebook page for updates . Until then we will be open by appointment only.
Most roadways are now accessible. Please keep in mind however that it will be wet and dirty at the campground for the next couple weeks. The Rec Building is also open. There is an information display set up with brochures, general information and pictures of what is hiding under the spring grime. If anyone is wanting to come check their campers, have a look around or get some information you are welcome to come out for a drive.

May Long weekend is only 58 days away, that’s only 130o hours.  Check out the website for some great early season camping specials.  Book your favourite campsite today.

May Long Weekend

As we are all well aware the weather on a Manitoba May Long weekend can go from Snow to Sunburn in the blink of an eye. It doesn’t seem to matter what that weather is though our Manitoba campers will still be here. We are a hardy bunch and love to get out and camp after this cold, dreary winter. But that weather also makes planning activities a little bit difficult. We always try to include an indoor plan or backup plan for any of our campground activities just in case. So, I have spent the last few months searching for  a new activity that would fit that bill. I think I have found something that everyone will be able to enjoy regardless of what Mother Nature throws our way. And it doesn’t matter if you are 5 years old or 65 we can all give it a try. Curbside Game Box will be coming to the campground on the Sunday afternoon of May Long Weekend.

Of course we are still hoping for a sunburn weekend and lots more to come this summer. Book your campsite now.
